The Good Food Purchasing Program (GFPP)

DC Greens supports DC Public Schools on adoption of the Good Food Purchasing Program. The Good Food Purchasing Program works to transform the way public institutions purchase food by creating a transparent and equitable food system built on five core values: local economies, health, valued workforce, animal welfare, and environmental sustainability. The Good Food Purchasing Program is the first procurement model to support these food system values in equal measure. DCPS is the 5th school district and first on the East Coast to adopt the GFPP!

DC Greens convenes a local GFPP Coalition of stakeholders including on a bi-monthly basis to shape and support implementation of the program for DC. For more information about the DC GFPP Coalition, click here.

On December 4th 2018, DC Council voted to ensure long term commitment to and progress towards the Good Food Purchasing Program's core values. Read more here
