Join the School Food Advisory Board!

Do you want to make school food the best it can be? Now’s your chance!

DC Public Schools’ Food and Nutrition Services Team and DC Greens are working together to convene a School Food Advisory Board made up of members of the school community including parents, students, food service personnel, teachers and non-profit partners. The meetings provide a collaborative space for DCPS Food and Nutrition Services leadership and their food service providers (DC Central Kitchen and SodexoMAGIC) to share updates and receive feedback from YOU. By working together, we can continue enhancing our school meals program to ensure that food served is tasty, nutritious, and culturally relevant.

The board meets 4 times per year, on Wednesdays from 5:30-7:30 PM. Each meeting will include dinner, networking and feedback collection, updates from DCPS FNS, Sodexo, and DC Central Kitchen, as well as a deep dive into a particular issue within school meals. The meeting schedule for the 2018/19 school year is:

  • January 30th - Nutrition and Compliance

  • April 10th - Food Quality & Availability

  • June (date TBD) - Nutrition Education & Food Waste

These meetings are open to the public. If you are interested in joining or want to learn more, sign up below or contact David Lazere at or (202) 601-9200 ext. 210 for more information. You can also access outreach materials and other resources here.

We also need your support for outreach! If there is an opportunity to share information about the School Food Advisory Board with your school community, we can come out and present, as well as provide you with flyers, sign in sheets, and any other materials you need.
