At DC Greens, we believe that policy change is necessary to create a just and resilient food system. We believe that individuals most impacted by food injustice must have channels to influence, shape, manage and control the solutions for their communities. Far too often, those with the most lived experience of food insecurity are not part of building or running the programs designed to serve them. Impactful and sustainable solutions must involve impacted communities at every stage of the process, from idea formation to implementation.

Look Back: Our FY24 Budget Work

Why We Testify

D.C.’s budget is created over many months. This provides the community with lots of opportunities to show support for the programs and initiatives that they believe are critical to their quality of life, and to the well-being of all D.C. residents.

Each year, DC Greens participates in the budget process. We do our best to testify in support for important programs and make policy- and program-related recommendations. We do this work together with our coalition partners, Fair Budget Coalition and Fair Food for All.
